Many dedicated broadband line customers report that when a company computer has been used for a long time, its system speed and boot speed slow down. What causes a computer to slow down? In fact, temporary files, the registry, disk fragmentation, and installing software to the C drive (system drive) by default can all make a computer slow down. So what should you do when a computer slows down? Let’s learn the solutions together with the Fangyuan Information editor!
- Delete unnecessary software
- Remove it through “Uninstall a program” on the computer.
Click the “Start” menu in the lower-left corner and open “Control Panel”, or right-click “My Computer”, select Properties, and open “Control Panel” in the upper-left corner. In the Control Panel window, find “Programs” in the lower-left corner and click “Uninstall a program” under “Programs”. In the Uninstall a program window, find the software you do not need and right-click it to uninstall it.
- Uninstall third-party software with 360 Software Manager / QQ Software Manager
Open 360 Software Manager, click Uninstall Software in the upper-right corner, find the software you do not need, and click “One-click Uninstall” on the right to uninstall it.
- Clean up C drive temporary files, the registry, and defragment the disk
- Use 360 Total Security to slim down the C drive, find large files, and clean up the registry. Open 360 Total Security, click “More” in the lower-right corner to open the tools window, click All Tools in the tools window, and find “Find Large Files”, “Registry Slimming”, and “System Drive Slimming”. Click “Find Large Files”, check “C drive” in the pop-up window, and click “Scan for Large Files” to start scanning. When the scan is complete, check the files you do not need and delete them. Open “Registry Slimming”, where you can optimize the registry. Click “Scan Now” in the upper-right corner, and click Delete when the scan is complete. Open “System Drive Slimming” and click Slim Down Now; when it is done, click “Restart Now”.
- Use 360 Total Security to optimize computer speed. Open 360 Total Security, click “Speedup” in the lower-left corner –> in the Speedup window click “Start Scan” –> when the scan is complete, click “Run Speedup”
- To defragment the disk, open “My Computer” and right-click the C drive. Select Properties, then in the Properties window select Tools –> Defragment Now –> select the C drive –> click Disk Defragmenter.
- Slow boot speed
- Use 360 Total Security to clean up the computer. Open 360 Total Security and click “Computer Cleanup” in the lower-right corner. In the Computer Cleanup window, click “One-click Scan” in the upper-right corner –> when the scan is complete, click “One-click Cleanup” in the upper-right corner.
- Use 360 Total Security to disable startup items. Open 360 Total Security and click “Speedup” in the lower-left corner. In the Speedup window, click “Startup Items” in the lower-right corner. In the Startup Items window, click “Startup Items” and “Boot Time” at the top, and select the startup programs, scheduled tasks, and auto-start plug-ins you want to disable. If none of the above works, we recommend reinstalling a clean system. Installing Microsoft’s latest Windows 10 is recommended. If you want even faster boot and operating speed, we recommend an SSD plus a clean system.
